Kol Chai - where people matter
High Holy Day Services 2021
Our High Holy Day services are a spiritual high point of our year, a moment to reflect on the rest of one’s life. There is no better place to do teshuva (turning round) than at Kol Chai.
Since March of last year, Kol Chai has successfully held services and other communal activities using on-line technology and many members will already be familiar with our services on Zoom. Whilst we have continued to utilise Zoom as a method for accessing our services since returning to our building, we are very excited to be offering our High Holydays services once again in-person as well as on-line. Importantly, we shall be holding all our services and activities at our own site in Hatch End.
For the High Holydays, we are preparing a programme of services and activities that we hope all members will be able to engage in; a schedule of those is available in this month’s Diary.
We’re asking people to register so that we can properly plan for our various services and activities and, importantly, for security purposes. Kol Chai takes on-line security as seriously as we take in-person security and to date we haven’t had any issues in that respect.
We shall be using the new draft machzor on Erev Rosh Hashanah and on both 1st and 2nd day Rosh Hashanah; we shall use the Reform machzor, Days of Awe, on Yom Kippur.
On Rosh Hashanah morning we have a children’s service and on Yom Kippur morning an alternative service open to all. On 2nd day Rosh Hashanah our service is highly participative, with everyone taking part.
