Celebrating Heritage Workshop 2
July 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
THEATRE WORKSHOPS with Suzette Coon
WHAT ARE THEY ABOUT?
Two theatre workshop sessions about celebrating heritage and identity with theatre making. By exploring stories and memories from our parents, grand-parents and great-grandparents’ lives we keep the histories alive, and understand more about our families and also ourselves.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
There are two sessions: Sunday 30 June 7-9.30 pm & Sunday 14 July 7-9.30 pm (ideally you need to attend both)
Participants will bring a photograph or a family possession; we will work in pairs to explore the story behind the photo/item; each pair will develop a series of questions and responses to form a structured conversation or ‘interview’ type scenario; we’ll work on the structure of the interview/conversation to give it a narrative and a sense of ‘theatre’.
Participants will present their ‘interview’ to the rest of the group. (for ref: It’s a bit like BBC Radio 4’s ‘Listening Project’.)
Suzette Coon is a playwright, screenwriter and Kol Chai member! Her most recent work, Balabusta, about Jewish women and their stories, was shown at the Watford Playhouse.
NB The workshops are free, but we need to know you’re coming! Book in with the office or with firstname.lastname@example.org for more information
